Product Overview

KRX Steering Rack Upgrade Kit

2023 models have different steering racks.

  • Kits for the 2020–2022 models will NOT work on a 2023. See the picture in the listing to determine which steering rack you have.
  • Our setup adds upgraded parts to make the steering rack more rigid. This ensures the internal gears will not slip apart or rotate.
  • The upgraded sealed and greased pinion bearing and high-quality seal help prevent water and mud intrusion into the pinion assembly area.
  • The end bushings are wider and thicker, preventing the bushings from breaking or falling out.

Kit Includes:

  • New under-cap bushing
  • New driver and passenger shaft bushings (must be retained with retaining compound/green Loctite)
  • Grease fitting kit with drill and tap
  • Sealed pinion bearing
  • New pinion seal
  • New softer rubber rack boots for improved sealing
  • Hex tool to remove the cap
  • 4-prong tool to remove the bearing retainer nut

2023-CURRENT KRX & KRX 4 Racks:

  • Kawasaki changed the pinion bearing size, housing, and retainer nut.
  • The correct nut removal tool, larger bearing, and our replacement pinion nut are included.
  • Our replacement nut replaces the tiny factory pinion seal with a real seal that will last much longer.

Installation Notes:

  • Use a 3-jaw or blind bearing puller for the end bushings (not included).
  • Kawasaki gave us a spring-loaded setup under the cap that is less than ideal. Under load (hitting a stump, a washout, or anything else unexpected), the rack shaft and pinion can separate and rotate.
  • For water and mud riders, the factory pinion seal and bearing are low-quality parts. Water and mud can get past the seal and straight into the unsealed, ungreased bearing, wiping out the bearing and the rest of the moving parts in the steering rack.
