Product Overview

Kawasaki KRX 1000 Starter Rebuild Upgrade Kit

Fits:
Kawasaki KRX 1000 All Years

This is not a complete starter. This is a proper sized upgrade kit is designed to rebuild your existing OEM starter better than new.

when a starter fails, the magnets dislodge from the shell housing and get chewed up internaly due to the crappy glue used to hold the magnets to the shell.

This kit addresses the issue, using a different outter shell housing with better glue to hold the magnets in place

As long as you have a good internal armature (the inside piece that has the shaft with the gear at the end) and your OEM end cap, you can rebuild your starter for a fraction of the cost of a new OEM unit.

If your housing magnets failed and the armature is a little beat up, it is still more than likely good.

Don't be intimidated, rebuilding a starter takes 10 minutes and can be done on the trail if needed (getting it out without cursing is a different story!)

For reference, a new Kawasaki 21163-0786 starter retails for $998, and you will receive the same starter that can fail again.

The oem starters are 900 watts -75 amps with 6 brushes

The shorter Honda starter is 800 watts -66 amps with 4 brushes

  • If you want to downgrade to save a few bucks, you get what you pay for!

The honda starter will spin slower and run hotter than an oem unit.

It is physicaly shorter than an oem unit

Starter Rebuild Information

Starters are very simple.

Literally three bolts to take apart and put back together with everything we provide.

Don't be intimidated, rebuilding a starter takes 10 minutes and can be done on the trail if needed

Reuse your existing OEM armature and end cap, install the upgraded components, and rebuild your starter back to better than new working condition.

nstallation Notes

You can access the starter from the passenger-side muffler area to remove it, but it is a complete pain in the butt!

We recommend removing the bed and airbox assembly and accessing the starter from underneath the throttle body.

A stubby 1/4" ratchet works great for installation.
