Product Overview
KRX 1000 BILLET CARRIER HOUSING AND BEARING UPGRADE
Fits all years KRX 1000.
IF YOU WANT A CARRIER INSTALLED ONTO A BRUTE PERFORMANE REAR STUB, YOU ARE GETTING OUR DOUBLE ROW CARRIER HOUSING.
- Replace the small skateboard carrier bearing and bolt in this sealed and greased oversized unit with layered protection from the elements, Timken outer seals, and Schaeffer’s grease in the void. Dirt and water don’t have a chance to get to the bearing.
- Comes assembled with billet CNC-machined 6061 housing. Anodized hardcoat black coating to prevent corrosion and improve durability.
- Oversized USA-made TIMKEN bearing. We now remove one rubber seal from the bearing to allow our grease to get into the bearing. Previously, we used both rubber seals in the bearing, but it worked too well and didn’t allow our grease to get into the bearing.
- Bearing retaining C-clip included
- 2 SKF outer seals included
- New C-clip for yoke stop included
- New O-ring for the transmission side of the stock stub shaft included
- Syringe of Schaeffer’s grease included to fill the internal space between the bearing and seal
INSTALLATION NOTES
- When installing the new housing, it is recommended to pack the empty space between the seals and bearing with extra grease. This adds a third layer of protection against dirt and water and helps lubricate the seals on the shaft. Syringe of grease is included—use half on each side of the bearing.
- When using the stock stub shaft, apply green Loctite on the shaft-to-bearing surface. Red Loctite would also work. Kawasaki uses a slip fit in this area. It is best for the bearing race to be “stuck” to the shaft to prevent galling.
- If your stock carrier bearing has exploded or is excessively worn out, the stub shaft where the bearing rides is often damaged. Kawasaki uses a slip fit on the bearing race to shaft, which can lead to the shaft being undersized in this area.
- It is not recommended to install a new carrier assembly on a damaged shaft. This can result in unwanted vibrations and poor sealing of the external seals. Please measure your shaft before installation. The bearing surface should measure no less than .981, or .002 under 25mm.
